John Panik, Sr

John E. Panik Sr., age 66, of Elsie, MI passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Herb Wheelock will officiate. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday March 5, 2009 from 6-8 PM and Friday March 6, 2009 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel.

John was born in Palos Park, Chicago on May 20, 1942, the son of Paul and Anna (Hucko) Panik. He resided his entire life in Elsie. John married Ellen Hornback on November 17, 1960 in Saginaw, MI. He worked for Motor Wheel and was a farmer for many years. John loved to fish, hunt, shoot his guns, garden and spend time with his dogs.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Panik of Elsie, MI, daughter Brenda Pontack of Elsie, MI, 2 sons; Bradley and Sheila Panik of Elsie, MI, and John Panik, Jr. of Elsie, MI, granddaughter Nicole and Michael Kimmel of Jacksonville, AR, great-grandson Lukas Kimmel and great-granddaughter Kendra Kimmel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Panik.
