John Maynard Parrish, age 71, of Harrison, MI passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor George Showers officiating. Burial will take place at Richland Township Cemetery in Vestaburg, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
John was born in Midland County, Michigan on November 2, 1940, the son of James Maynard Parrish and Lorraine Phyllis (Stowits) Walimaki. He graduated from St. Louis High School. John married Judith Alice Graham on September 21, 1963 in Mt. Pleasant, MI. John resided most of his life in the Gratiot County area until moving to Harrison in 1991. He retired from Lobdell-Emery/Oxford Automotive in Alma in 1999, after nearly 40 years of service. John enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and most recently turkey hunting. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Judy Parrish of Harrison, MI, son Scott and Jodi Parrish of Hamilton, MI, daughter Lynnae and Charles Schloneger of Breckenridge, MI, son in law Kevin Bremer of Shields, MI, 6 grandchildren; Ryan Parrish, Shannon Parrish, Blake Parrish, Jessica Bremer, Annie Starrett, and Seth Parrish, 3 great granddaughters; Noelle, Sierra, and Ella Parrish, sister Sharon and Joe Brickner of Shepherd, MI, sister Delores and Howard Bell of Mt. Sherman, KY, brother James and Barbara Parrish of Traverse City, MI, and sister Tina and James Gushen of St. Louis, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Kathleen K. Wiltse, their infant at childbirth, and her parents Henry & Ethelo, a daughter Corinna Lynn (Parrish) Bremer, and Judy's parents Kenneth & Alice Graham.
