John Pontius

John Robert Pontius, age 50, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 4, 2021. Visitation will be held 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the funeral home.

John was born in Lansing, MI on December 4, 1970, the son of Gerald "Bud" John and Diane Kay (Reeves) Pontius. On September 20, 1999, John married Dianne Marie Lavia in Ithaca, MI. They were blessed with 21 years of marriage.

John loved life and will be remembered for his jokes and sense of humor. He was passionate about hunting at The White Post and snowmobiling at the cabin. He enjoyed helping people whenever possible. His favorite times involved sipping coffee with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife Dianne, 3 sons: Johnathan (Sabrina) Pontius of Wheeler, Bryant (Leah) Pontius of Grand Rapids and Brandon (Krista) Nevills of Charlotte; and 3 grandchildren: Devonny, Julian, and Jacus. He is also survived by his siblings: Sharon (Tom) Schneider, Lynnette Pontius, Gary (Cheryl) Pontius, Gerald (Sally) Pontius, Steven (Heather) Pontius, Billy (Donnalee) Pontius, Mark Pontius, and Jason Pontius; and many nieces and nephews.  John was preceded in death by his dad "Bud" Pontius.
