John Schafer

John W. Schafer, age 83, died May 22, 2014. He was born in Fowler, May 19, 1931, the son of Edward and Laura (Goerge) Schafer. John was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Fowler Conservation Club. He was a supervisor with the Department of Public Works in Fowler for 28 years before retiring.

John is survived by two brothers, Michael (Irene) Schafer of Grand Ledge and Jerome (Connie) Schafer of DeWitt. Also surviving are sisters, Agnes Schafer and Theresa Stump both of Pewamo, as well as many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Elizabeth (Clayton) Kramer, Martha (Steve) Fedewa and Rita Walker, two brothers, Edward and Joseph Schafer and brothers-in-law, Delbert Schafer and Leon Stump.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with burial to follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a rosary at 3 p.m. and vigil service at 8 p.m., at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St., Fowler.
