John Strachota, Jr., age 74, of Elsie, Michigan died Friday, June 26th, 2009 at Ingham Regional Medical Center , Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, Michigan on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Keith Whipple will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

John was born in Bannister, Michigan on September 11, 1934, the son John Joseph and Suzanne (Podmajersky) Strachota. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1953. On September 12, 1953 he married Arlis Miller in Elsie, Michigan. John was a farmer and he retired from Federal Mogul in St. Johns in 1989 after 33 years of service. He resided most of his life in the Elsie area and was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Lodge #225 Bannister, Michigan and he also enjoyed fishing & hunting.
He is survived by his wife Arlis Strachota of Elsie, 1 daughter Janet Kay and Jerry Fabus of Monterey, Tennessee, 1 son John C. and Sue Strachota of Elsie,
7 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, 1 sister Alice and Al Thelen of St. Johns.
He was predeceased by his parents, and sister Irene Mach. Memorials may be made to the Z.C.B.J. Lodge #225 Bannister, Michigan in his memory.
