Josefita Alaniz Garcia, age 95, of Sinton, TX and formerly of Owosso, MI passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Trisun Care Center, Sinton, TX.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Wednesday, July 18th at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Fr. Michael O'Brien will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 17, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI.
Josefita was born in Yorktown, Texas on July 18, 1916, the daughter of Guadalupe and Juanita (Rangel) Alaniz. Josefita married Alejandro Garcia on November 5, 1931 in Edna, TX. Alejandro passed away in October of 1974. Josefita moved to the Owosso area from Texas in 1954 and since had returned to Texas.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Cursillista Prayer Group. Her family brought much joy to her life especially spending time with her many grandchildren. Josefita will be remembered for her great sense of humor. She enjoyed watching baseball games that her family played in.
Josefita is survived by 6 sons Benino and Maria Garcia of Ocoee, FL, Santos and Felipa Garcia of St. Johns, MI, Frank and Connie Garcia of Sinton, TX, Cesario "Ces" and Minnie Garcia of Owosso, MI, Juan Manuel and Elodia Garcia of Sinton, TX & Guadalupe "Pete" and Kim Garcia of Ovid, MI; daughter-in-law Mary Garcia of Owosso, MI; 28 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters Aurora Garcia of Sinton, TX, Maria Gonzales of Sinton, TX & Guadalupe Garza of Sinton, TX; 2 special nieces Rosa Alaniz & Lena Ramirez.
Josefita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 daughters Lydia & Virginia also a son Juan, 4 grandchildren, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
