Joseph S. Bernath age 87 of Bannister, Michigan died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 19, 2006 at 11:00 A.M at St. Cyrila�(TM)s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan with Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt. Visitation will be held Monday, December 18, 2006 from 5-7 P.M. Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Joseph was born February 28, 1919 in Chicago Heights, Illinois the son of Andro & Katerina (Duzek) Bernath. He resided most of his life in the Bannister area. He married Irene M. Minarik on July 4, 1947 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church Mena�(TM)s Club & Ushera�(TM)s Club, American Legion Post #502, he served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He loved fishing, hunting, playing the accordion and he enjoyed Polka music.
He is survived by his wife Irene M. Bernath, son David & Sherri Bernath of Bath, Michigan, grandson Noah Bernath of Traverse City, Michigan, brother Frank & Mary Bernath, and he is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters; Anna Kopchitz, Josie Oberlin, 3 brothers; Nicholas, Steve and Andrew Bernath. Memorials may be made to St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan
