Joseph Michael Marsik, age 69, of Corunna, MI passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. John Fain will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI. Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI.

Joseph was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 5, 1939, the son of Frank E. and Frances M. (Pelikan) Marsik. He attended Corunna grade school and graduated from St. Paul's Catholic School with the class of 1957. Joe worked as a postal carrier for over thirty years out of the Corunna post office until his retirement in 1992. He served his country in the United States Marines. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and raising show pigeons. He was an avid reader of western culture and a collector of Native American memorabilia. Joe resided all of his life in the Corunna area. He was a member of the Shiawassee County Conservation Club.

He is survived by two daughters; Trish Marsik Akason and Drew Akason of Brooklyn, New York, and Jennifer Marsik Friess and Doug Friess of Saint Louis, MO, one son Michael Marsik of Honolulu, HI, one brother Frank and Dorothy Marsik of Owosso, MI, one sister, Sister Christa Marsik, OP of Adrian, MI, one niece Lori England and one nephew Frank J. Marsik. He was preceded in death by his parents.
