Joseph P. Moriarty died September 6, 2008 at the age of 93. He was born in Hudson, MI on December 5, 1914, the son of Joseph R. and Eva (Peter) Moriarty and lived most of his life in St. Johns. He was a welder at the Demmer Corporation and the John Bean Company for 22 years, drove bus in the City of Lansing for 10 years and worked for Michigan Sugar for four years. On February 18, 1939 he married Pauline B. Armour and she preceded him in death on June 27, 1999 after 60 years of marriage.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Skorna of St. Johns, two sons, Earl (Agnes) Moriarty of St. Johns, and Michael Moriarty of Gaylord, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and special friend Dorothy Harris. In addition to Pauline, Joe was preceded in death by one brother, James Gibbons, and two sisters, Marian Satterlee and Edra Dupree.
Funeral services will be at 11A.M., Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, with Rev. Hugh Banninga officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday 2-4P.M. and 6-8P.M. at the funeral home. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Clinton Memorial Hospital or Sparrow Home Hospice.
