Joseph Clayton Wale, a great grandfather, grandfather, father, and loving husband of Margaret Wale passed away July 29, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. At the age of 73, he fought a courageous battle with the fast moving Pompea�(TM)s disease.

Clayton was born August 18,, 1932, the youngest of nine children of the late Joseph M. and Elnora (Hollenbeck) Wale. Clayton graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1950, and married his high school sweetheart Margaret Fenton on June 15, 1952. Clayton spent most of his life in the St. Louis area and his wife Margaret in Pleasant Valley area.

He was an active member of the St. Louis Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon an Elder and many years as a Sunday school teacher. He worked at Alma Products, General Motors Steering Gear in Saginaw and his family farm.
In 1988, he retired from Steering Gear and spent the next fifteen years at Higgins Lake where he and Margaret enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating on the lake. This is where he enjoyed his family and grandchildren the most. He was an avid euchre player, golfer and wood worker; he enjoyed making beautiful furniture for his family.

Surviving him are his best friend and wife Margaret Wale, their three daughters, Linda Robinson of New Windsor, New York, and Denise & (Gail) Goetz, Debbie Shinabargar both of St. Louis, Michigan. 8 grand children, Shannon (Brian) Farr, Lisa Bryan, Katie, Megan Goetz; Amanda, Kelly & Heather Shinabargar; and one great granddaughter Emilee Grace. Also, 2 sisters Carrie O. Iles and Vida L. Holton of Saginaw and one brother-in-law, LaVerne Goschke of Saginaw, Michigan.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph M. & Elnora (Hollenbeck) Wale, sisters Faye Kent, Mary (Dutch) Loomis, Thelma Goschke, and Dorita Wale, also brothers Chester (chum) Wale and Lawrence Wale. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 2, 11:00 am. at the St. Louis Church of Christ. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Monday 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday, 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
