Joseph Bernard "Bernie" Yott, age 88, of Corunna, MI died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ray A. Strawser II officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Tree Cemetery, Corunna, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Joseph was born in Cape Vincent, New York on October 6, 1923, the son of Robert and Catherine (McKenna) Yott. He married Patricia L. Tinklepaugh on October 6, 1967 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 2011 after 43 years of marriage.
Bernie proudly served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and was a member of the Marine Corp League-Harold R. Cooley Detachment #841. He worked at Midland Ross Corporation for 26 years retiring in 1984 and then worked as a custodian for Corunna School System retiring in 1997.
He is survived by daughter Dian and Terry Schmidt of Midland, MI, son Jerald and Vicki Yott of Tucson, AZ, son Eric and Sheila Yott of Corunna, MI, daughter Carol and Charles Sansom of Marathon, TX, son Wade and Tara Yott of Portland, MI, daughter Lori and George Parks of Ithaca, MI, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and his siblings. In addition to his wife and parents, Bernie was preceded in death by two sons, David and Lee.
