Joseph Florez Zavala, age 85, of St. Louis, MI passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph, St. Louis, MI on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Nate Harburg officiating.
Joseph was born in Vernon, Texas on July 26, 1928, the son of Luis Zavala and Petra Florez. He married Eva Reyes on September 12, 1981. Joe was a family man, and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed music, especially playing guitar. Joe also liked to collect antiques and play pool. He was a member of Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Eva Zavala of St. Louis, MI, daughter Rosalinda and Fernando Ramirez, daughter MaryAnne and Antonio Flores, son Joe Michael and Angie Zavala, daughter Connie Zavala, daughter Mary Margaret and Alberto Lopez, daughter JoAnna Soto, daughter Rachel Zavala, daughter Laura and Jon Stone, son Robert Daniel Zavala of all of Michigan, 23 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Maria.
