Josephine Shaull

Josephine "Ruth" Shaull, 87, of North Star, MI, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020, at her home.

A Family Graveside Service was held at North Star Cemetery with Pastor Mark Monroe officiating.

Josephine was born in rural Gratiot County, MI on October 19, 1932, the daughter of Homer James and Geraldine Josephine (Russell) Viers.

Ruth lived in North Star, MI her whole life. She married her childhood friend Don Shaull in May of 1950. Ruth raised three boys and started working at the Post office in town in 1969. She transferred to the post office in Alma and worked there until her retirement in 1987.

Ruth enjoyed her family and spent many years keeping an eye on her mother and father. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed traveling with her husband. They attended many of the harness races in and around Michigan, and enjoyed traveling to Kentucky each year. They also traveled a few times out to North Carolina to visit their son Greg.

Ruth is survived by her sons: Jay Shaull, Greg Shaull, and Brad Shaull; sister-in-law Barbara Viers; grandchildren: Angie (Nick) Bailey, Katie (Matt) Wagar and Ross Shaull; great grandchildren: Josephine Wagar, Eloise Wagar, and Bianca Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: Homer Viers and Josephine Lott; brothers: Jack Viers and James Viers; sister-in-law Janet Viers and daughter-in-law Karin Shaull.
