Joy E. Shrum, age 84, of St. Louis, MI passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Mid Michigan Medical Center Gratiot, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Alma, MI on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor John Eich officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday for one hour prior to services at the church.
Joy was born in Trinway, Ohio on June 15, 1930, the daughter of Norman and Wanda (King) Biehl. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1948. Joy married William E. Shrum on April 28, 1950 in St. Louis, MI. She was a lifelong resident of St. Louis. Joy was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Joy worked at Knapp's Bakery during high school. In her adult years she worked at Betty Berry Shop for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, baking, and always had coffee ready. Joy loved music and received the first John Philip Sousa Award for St. Louis High School. She was loved by many and treasured her family and time spent with them.
Joy is survived by her husband Bill Shrum of St. Louis, MI, 4 children; Mark and Linda Shrum of Dewitt, MI, Dennis and Barb Shrum of Lake Ann, MI, Bob and Marie Shrum of St. Johns, MI, Shari and Joe Kindig of Weidman, MI, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brother Gary and Joanne Biehl of St. Louis, MI, sister Sharon Biehl of St. Louis, MI, and a brother David and Marcia Biehl of St. Louis, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Susan, and a brother Billy.
