Joyce Barton

Joyce M. Barton, age 84, of St. Louis, MI passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2014 at her home with her daughters by her side.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Glen Joseph officiating. Burial will follow at North Star Cemetery North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Joyce was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on April 4, 1929, the daughter of Dayton and Viola (Allen) Loomis. Joyce married Robert Barton in April of 1973; he preceded her in death in December of 1974. Joyce worked at Redmond Motor Factory, Oldsmobile, and Wrights Manufacturing. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, and crocheting.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Vickie Mills of St. Louis, MI, Cynthia Compton of St. Louis, MI, 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and sister Carolyn and Robert Walters of Fraser, MI. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Barton, first husband Randle Schooler, step-son Randy Schooler and 2 brothers; Gale and Volney Loomis.
