Joyce M. Darmody, age 88, of Alma, MI passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Warwick Living Center, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel, on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Dr. Jana Lynn Almeida will officiate. Burial will follow at Elm Hall Cemetery, Sumner Township, MI.
Visitation will be held Monday December 13, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis chapel.

Joyce was born in Richland Township, Michigan on September 11, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Fern (Bell) Griffin. She resided most of her life in Big Rapids, MI. Joyce married Richard on December 24, 1944 in Alma, MI.

Joyce enjoyed doing macramAC. and woodworking. She always loved working in her flower garden and as a child helped on her parent's farm. Joyce was a member of the Alma First United Methodist where she volunteered quite often. She also loved caring for her poodles over the years.

She is survived by and her husband Richard Darmody of Alma, MI; son Robert Darmody of Riverdale, MI; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nancy Lee Darmody, son Richard Brainerd Darmody, granddaughter Shelly, great-grandson Kenneth, 1 sister and 4 brothers.
