Joyce Kay Hansen

     Joyce Kay Hansen, age 77, of DeWitt, MI, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024.
     A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, with Pastor Andy Croel officiating. Burial will take place at Solon Cemetery, Cedar Springs, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-3 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
      Joyce was born in Cedar Springs, MI on September 26, 1946, the daughter of Raymond A. and Mildred Ruth (McIntyre) Wesche. On September 3, 1966, Joyce married John Hansen at Cedar Springs United Methodist Church.
     Joyce loved to travel with her husband and family. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, especially the wreaths that she would make. Joyce was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a teacher at heart, teaching at Cedar Springs High School, Aquinas College and Davenport College. She was a member of Gunnisonville Methodist Church.
     She is survived by her husband John Hansen of DeWitt, MI; son James Hansen of Brooklyn, NY; son Jeff and Sara Hansen of St. Johns, MI; grandchildren: Kai and Zane Hansen, Pierce and Faith Hansen; brother Ron and Marcy Wesche of Grand Rapids, MI; brother Ken Wesche of Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Gerlich, and brother Mick Wesche.
