Joyce Madeline (Kirby) Deem, age 75, of Burtchville, MI passed away Friday, July 30th, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a long courageous battle with breast cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Johnnie Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Road Cemetery Brady , MI.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 2, 2010 from 7-9 PM and Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from11-1 PM.
Joyce was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 22, 1934, the daughter of Roland Archie and Vera Waneta (McKinney) Kirby. Joyce resided most of her life in the Port Huron Area but grew up and attended Owosso Schools.
Joyce was an avid supporter of Feed The Children and the Boys and Girls Club of America. She loved to read, play games on her computer and ministered to shut-ins. Attending church and her family were both a big part of her life, especially her children and grandchildren. In 1989, Joyce took her vows as an End-time Handmaiden in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was a dual member of the Port Huron Assembly of God Church and the Crossroad Christian Center. Joyce helped to purchase the Crossroad Christian Center.
She is survived by 5 daughters Dorothy and John Starks of Antioch, TN; Deeanna and Ed Sherman of Fremont, MI; Carol Deem and Dan Donoghue of Lennon, MI; Jodee and Dave Hall of Port Huron, MI; Naomie Deem and Keith Shaw of Antioch, TN; adopted daughter Mary Dulmage of Burtchville, MI; 10 grandchildren Yolanda, Amy, Jeanene, Richard, Eddie, Terra, Bobby, Jessie, Jimmy and Shawn; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; long time friend Gloria McCue of Port Huron, MI; 2 sisters Devora and Ira Junior Sewell of Vernon, MI; Lauretta Nye of Corunna, MI; brother Harley Buck and Patricia Kirby of Frankenmuth, MI.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Archie & Waneta Kirby; 2 grandchildren David Bradley Hall, Jr. and Jolene Marie Hall; brother Ronnie Kirby; brother-in-law Merritt Nye.
