June was born in St. Johns, Michigan on August 1, 1933, the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Lajda) Mosne. June was the youngest of six sisters who grew up on a farm in St. Johns. She was always a fun-loving, but shy person. Once you got to know her you found she was a very caring and trustworthy friend for life. She enjoyed her family and friends gathering at her home. She was a member of The Peoples Church of East Lansing and also attended The Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City.
After graduating from Rodney B. Wilson High School, June was hired by Federal’s Department Store in Frandor. A few months later her application was accepted at Oldsmobile where she rode into work with her brother-in-law Stanley Smeltzer.
June married Joseph L. Toth, Jr. on October 23, 1955, at United Methodist Church in St. Johns. Joseph preceded her in death on December 28, 1989. They had two children: Stephanie and Stephen.
In the early 1970s she started selling Avon. Then in 1974, June decided to start her own business by becoming the owner and operator of Floral Adult Foster Care Home at her residence. She operated this home basically by herself, which consisted of female residents. She enjoyed cooking for her residents and driving them to appointments when their families were not able.
In 2001, she purchased a summer home in Mackinaw City, Michigan and enjoyed spending time there, visiting sites in the area especially the lighthouses. She collected small scale lighthouses and displayed them in her home in St. Johns. June loved cooking, baking and planting flowers with her son Steve every summer, which lined the long walkway to her front porch in St. Johns. Her favorite season was summer and her favorite holiday was Christmas. Her family of nieces, nephews, neighbors, son, and daughter entertained her with a birthday party cookout each summer in the backyard of her home in St. Johns since 1993, with a themed birthday cake, homemade ice cream and a piñata.
Her most favorite part when being in Mackinaw City was attending Sunday worship service at The Church of the Straits. She also enjoyed riding in her son’s Corvette and especially enjoyed being in the Corvette Crossroads Auto Show Parade these last two summers crossing over the Mackinac Bridge.
June was a wonderfully kind, loyal and compassionate Mother, devoting much of her time to her children, who loved her very much. Mom (Aunt June) meant the world to us and she will always be in our hearts and will be missed more than words can say. She was our hero and made everyone’s life brighter.
June is survived by her daughter Stephanie (David) Skeels of St. Johns, Michigan; son Stephen Toth of St. Johns, Michigan; nieces: Joan Martin of Lake Worth, Florida; Sharon Donovan of Middleton, Michigan; Delana (Charles) Lewis of Owosso, Michigan; and nephews: Dennis (Donita) Sykora of New Hudson, Michigan; great-nieces and nephews: Denise Sykora, Michael Sykora, Chad Lewis, Richard Donovan, Janae Ortego, Jamie Donovan, Stephen Klaver, Christopher Klaver, Melissa Di Pasquali, and Katie Bradley June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth (Glen) Capen, Ann (Harold) Martin, Emily (Fred) Sykora, Susan (Stanley) Smeltzer and Judith (Rex) Skea. She was also, preceded in death by nephews: Paul Klaver and David Smeltzer and great-niece Anita Brandal.
