Karen Doan

Karen Kay (Carey) Doan age 60, of Wheeler, MI passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Wally Hostetter officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.

Karen was born in Bay City, MI on August 6, 1957 the daughter of Fredrick and Arlene (Sieja) Carey. Karen graduated from Sanford-Meridian High School with the class of 1975. She lived most of her life in the Wheeler area.

Karen loved to help everyone! Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Karen loved the outdoors, all animals, feeding the deer, and bird watching. She enjoyed camping. Karen was an avid fan of the Tigers and Spartans.

Karen is survived by her children: James (Jennifer) Doan of Ovid, Edward Doan of Mt. Pleasant, and Katie (Andrew) Cardenas of Wheeler; her grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Tiffany, James Jr., Lucas, Leia, Cameron, and Gage; and her brother Keith (Lori) Carey of Mt. Pleasant.  Karen was preceded in death by her parents and fiancé Eric Freiwald.
