Katherine Powelson

Katherine Louise Powelson age 85 of Elsie, Michigan, died on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Monday, September 4, 2006 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Pastor Ed Snook will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie Michigan.
Katherine was born on November 15, 1920 in Ashley, Michigan the daughter of Henry and Carrie (Schaub) Ackels. She graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1939 and resided most of her life in the Elsie area. In January of 1943 she married Norman Powelson, he predeceased her.
Katherine was a homemaker, and also worked as a School Librarian at E. E. Knight Elementary School. Katherine liked to sew, knit, and crochet. She was a member of the Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie Lioness Club, Elsie Literary Club, and MARPS.
Survivors include her son, Bruce Powelson of Howell, Michigan, daughter, Donnella Powelson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, brother, Harold Lee & Rhoda Ackels of Howell, Michigan, sister, Margie & Carl Robbenolt of Ashley, Michigan, Special friend of the family, Wendy McLenithan, 2 grand-kittens, Sir Olliver, and T.C. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers Robert, Walter, and Larry Ackels; two sisters Betty Sadler and Helen Powelson.
Memorial may be made to Ernest E. Knight Elementary School Library in her memory.
