Kathryn "Kay" Cora Larry, age 98, formerly of Ithaca Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home at Maplewood in Mt Pleasant, Michigan on October 19, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Her family and friends will celebrate her life at Smith Family Funeral Home, Ithaca, MI on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. Chris McNeilly of Great Lakes Caring Hospice officiating. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 11:30 with interment following at the Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Following the service and interment a luncheon will be served at the Ithaca United Methodist Church.
Kay was born on November 21, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Gwendolyn (Sevey) Rogers. On September 22, 1938 she married the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" Gordon Larry in Lansing. In 1944 they moved to Ithaca to assist his mother in running Larry's Hardware after the death of Chuck's father.
Kay had a large circle of friends and her gift of hospitality meant that everyone who came into her home felt special. She was above all a loving, caring Mother, Sister, Grandma, Nana, Aunt and Friend. We have all been blessed and are so thankful to have had her in our lives all these years. She spent her life caring for her family, even up until her last days.
She is survived by her daughters; Carol (Larry) Johnson of Eaton Rapids, and Kathy (David) Ochander of Lake Isabella, four grandchildren; Lori (Walter) Irwin of Mancelona, Peggy (Ylli) Bodinaku of Lansing, Scott (Amy) Ochander of Bend, Oregon, Kimberly (Albert) Apsitis of Oscoda and nine great grandchildren; Kathryn and Hannah Irwin, Amelia, Juliet and Christian Bodinaku, Noah and Austin Ochander, Brendan and Alec Apsitis, her sister Barbara (Jo) Bowen Hodges of Ithaca, and many special nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Chuck in 1979, her sister Jean(John) Landis, and grandsons; Gregory and Gabriel Johnson.
