Kathryn Sitts

Kathryn Ann Sitts, age 80, of Wheeler, MI, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Jeff Reser officiating.  Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

Kathryn was born in St. Louis, MI on August 26, 1940, the daughter of Marion "Bud" and Dorothy (Hudson) Ries.  She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1958.  Kathy married Ray Sitts on September 6, 1958 in Alma, MI.  Ray passed away on December 16, 2017.

Kathy and Ray enjoyed attending gospel music jamborees, where they made many lifelong friends. She loved going out to eat with her family. She was a wonderful cook, known for her potato salad, coleslaw, fried chicken and Swiss steak.  She enjoyed word searches, puzzles, watching the Walton's, Jeopardy, The Price is Right, and the Detroit Tigers.  Kathy loved being a grandma and treasured time spent with family.  In her younger years, she enjoyed "coffee breaks" with neighbors.  She attended East Washington United Brethren Church, Ashley, MI, where she enjoyed fellowship at pot luck dinners and their Prime Timers Group.

She is survived by sons: Martin and Monica Sitts of Wheeler, MI, Randy and Karen Sitts of Vestaburg, MI, daughter Debbie and James Andrew of Ithaca, MI, grandchildren: Samantha Sitts of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Ashley Sitts of Florence, KY, sisters: Pat and Ed Slack of Lakeland, FL, Shirley and Ed Harper of Houghton Lake, MI, Rosalie Miller of Lansing, MI, sisters in law: Shirley Sitts of Breckenridge, MI, and Maitland "Fussy" Sitts of Alma, MI. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and special friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, grandson Joshua Ray Sitts, brother Jim Ries, infant sister Sharon Ries, and many brothers and sisters in law.
