Kay Lorraine Mead

     Kay Lorraine Mead, age 82, of Owosso, MI, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
     Kay was born in St. Johns, Michigan on November 16, 1942, the daughter of Harold and Laura (Huss) Powers. Kay graduated from Rodney B. Wilson in 1962. On November 3, 1962, she married Charles Dean Mead, in Maple Rapids, Michigan. They were blessed with forty-five years of marriage; prior to his passing on October 25, 2008.
     Kay enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, antiquing, and sewing. She liked cooking for family and friends and will be remembered for her Christmas cookies & candies. Kay and Charlie loved their time up north at Houghton Lake with their grandchildren. They also liked visiting family in Florida and camping at MIS. Most of all, her heart was with her grandchildren.
     She is survived by her daughters: Malisa and Steve Boggs, Tracey and Phil Morse, and Candy and Gary Jackson. Through the years their family grew, with the addition of six granddaughters: Shantel Conner, Shelby Morse, Haley, Hannah, and Blaine Schultz and Mackenzie Boggs and one grandson, Torin (Nora) Boggs, great-grandchildren: Carleigh and Chandler Conner, Caleb and Charlie Godfrey, Maxton, Addyson and Ainsley Lingenfelter, and Hudson and Hadley Bashore. She is also survived by her sister Connie Henry and her brother Ronnie Powers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles and brother Richard Powers.
