Keith McKenzie

Keith E. McKenzie, age 88, formerly of Breckenridge, MI, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Railside Living Center in Byron Center, MI.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel, 1333 E. Center Street, Ithaca, MI. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Breckenridge, MI. The family will receive friends and relatives on January 10, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Keith was born August 7, 1924, in Gratiot County, MI, the son of Ernest and Vinnie (Martin) McKenzie. A Gratiot County farmer, he lived most of his life there, graduating from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1943. Keith married Phyllis Whaley on June 10, 1944, a union of 59 years. He was an honored, lifelong member of Emerson Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed many summers with family and friends at his cottage in Lake George, MI, and in his later years, he spent considerable time at his home in Florida.

Keith is survived by his four children; Gary and Jane (Allen) McKenzie of Wyoming, MN, Keitha and Ted Kasel of Lansing, Carmen and David Etienne of Rochester Hills, and Scott and Theresa (Smolka) McKenzie of Dorr, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Phyllis, his sister Ruth Wellman, and his brother Ernest McKenzie Jr.
