Kenneth S. "Skip" Russell died February 9, 2009 at the age of 71. Born January 15, 1938 in St. Johns the son of Kenneth and LeOna (Purvis) Russell. Kenneth was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid, the U.A.W. Local 925 and Great Lakes United. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Skip married Joyce Henning in St. Johns on July 20, 1957 and she survives him.
Also surviving him are his mother, LeOna Karber, daughters, Roxanne (Bob) LePard, Robin (Paul) Dingey, sons, Kenneth (Deb) Russell, Kevin (Teresa) Russell, Kelly (Sandy) Russell, 16 grandchildren , 4 great grandchildren, step-sister, Marcia Simmons, brother, Walter (Shirley) Russell, step-brother, Gerald Karber, Richard (Donna) Karber, David Karber and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Russell, a son, Kerry Russell, step-father, Joseph Karber, step-mother, Ovie Russell and half-brother, Raymond Russell.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Holy Family Catholic Church with The Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid on Wednesday and Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a rosary being prayed Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed in leu of flowers to Holy Family Catholic Church of Ovid.
