Kerwin "Kirk" Oliver Brooks age 81 of Corunna, Michigan died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Genesys Regional Health Park, Flint, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Corunna, MI on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Russell Merrill will officiate with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery Corunna, Michigan Millitary Rites will be administered by the Corunna VFW Post #4005. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. and Wednesday, August 22, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Kerwin was born in Corunna, Michigan on April 20, 1926 the son of Wendell and Rachel ( Munger ) Brooks. He resided most of his life in the Corunna area and graduated from Corunna High School. Kirk married Vivian Quinn on October 23, 1948 at Corunna Avenue Methodist Church. He served in the Navy during WW II. Kirk worked as a millwright at Johnson Controls and retired in 1989. Kirk enjoyed golfing and doing yard work. He enjoyed doing carpentry and woodworking, and tinkering with cars, and he enjoyed taking a bike ride. He was a Tigers and Lions fan and he enjoyed watching "The Price is Right", and "Wheel of Fourtune". Kirk enjoyed attending his grandchildrens sports games, and he wintered in Destin, Florida since 1989. Kerwin was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Corunna, Michigan, as well as a member of the Corunna VFW Post #4005, and the Chippewa Hills Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife Vivian Brooks of Corunna, MI, children Kirk "Buck" & Debbie Brooks of Corunna, MI, Robin & Bill Spaleny of Corunna, MI, 5 grandchildren Darcy & Trent Louch of Durand, MI, Aaron Spaleny of Corunna, MI, Jordan & Cindy Brooks of Bancroft, MI, Trent Brooks of Owosso, MI, Amber Brooks of Corunna, MI, 2 great grandchildren Hallie Louch of Durand, MI, Nathan Louch of Durand, MI, 2 sisters; Joanne & Dick Miller of Corunna, MI, Connie & Larry Gulick of Russell, AR, 1 brother Phillip & Rose Brooks of Benton Harbor, MI, and 3 special friends; Arivine & Joy Maurer, Rita Bendall, Lucille Shipman. He is predeceased by his parents.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Corunna, Michigan or the Make A Wish Foundation. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
