Kirk Brooks

Kirk "Buck" Thomas Brooks, age 52, of Roscommon, MI formerly of Corunna, MI. passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel, Corunna, MI on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Russell Merrill will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. and Monday, October 19, 2009 from 11-1 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel, Corunna, MI.

Kirk was born in Owosso, Michigan on September 19, 1957, the son of Kerwin and Vivian (Quinn) Brooks. He graduated from Corunna High School with the class of 1975. Kirk married Deborah L. Sohorec on April 29, 1978 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Owosso. Kirk worked for G.M. at the Metal Fabrication plant in Flint before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Kirk loved to be outdoors working on his Chevelle, going to Pictured Rocks in the U.P. and taking care of his labrador retrievers. Kirk resided most of his life in the Corunna area, before moving to Roscommon two years ago. He was a member of the UAW Local 659.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Brooks, 2 sons; Jordan and Cindy Brooks of Bancroft, Trenton and Katie Brooks of Owosso, daughter Amber Brooks of Roscommon, grandson Thomas Brooks, his mother Vivian Brooks of Corunna, sister Robin and Bill Spaleny of Corunna, his father and mother-in-law Frank and Betty Sohorec, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Kerwin Brooks in 2007.
