Larry Ackels age 66 of Ashley, Michigan died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing, Michigan
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Larry was born in Ashley, Michigan on April 1, 1938 the son of Henry & Carrie ( Schaub ) Ackels
He was a lifelong resident of Ashley, Michigan. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1957. Larry married Andrea Foglesong in Ithaca, Michigan in October of 1971. He retired from General Motors in 1994 after 34 years of service; he was also a farmer. He loved auction sales, horses, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Andrea Ackels of Ashley, MI, 1 brother Harold & Rhoda Ackels of Howell, MI, 3 sisters; Marjorie & Carl Robbennolt of Ashley, MI, Betty Sadler of Ashley, MI, Katherine Powelson of Elsie, MI, many nieces & nephews, his pet dog Pistol and exchange student daughter Ulrika Cederberg of Sweden. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers Walter & Robert Ackels, & sister Helen Powelson
Memorials may be made to the Gratiot Area Hospice or Diabetes Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
