Larry Parsons

Larry R. Parsons, age 75, of St. Louis, MI died Saturday, February 25th, 2012 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ on Tuesday, February 28th at 11:00 A.M. Dr. Keith J. Wise will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Larry was born in Alma, Michigan on June 29, 1936, the son of Robert Parsons and Florence (McFarland) Parsons. Larry graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1956. He married Carolyn (Crispell) Parsons on June 15, 1957 in St. Louis, MI. Larry retired from St. Louis Post Office, where he served as a city and rural mail carrier for 35 years. Larry served the St. Louis Fire Department for 32 years, and as Fire Chief. He was very active in the St. Louis Church of Christ, where he served in many areas including elder and janitor for many years. He and Carolyn loved spending their summers at Mackinac Island for 17 years. Larry was a wonderful family man and enjoyed his time spent with his children & grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife Carolyn Parsons of St. Louis, MI; daughter Elizabeth and Robert Solomon of Grand Ledge, MI; son Bob Parsons of St. Louis, MI; son Mike and Nancy Parsons of Shepherd, MI; 6 grandchildren: Mollie, Chad, Megan, Ben, James, and Carrie; and a sister Jean and Gary Stacey of Greenville, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter in law Susan Parsons.
