Laura Lyn Bashans

     Laura Lyn Bashans, age 58, of Alma, MI, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, at her home.

     A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. 

     Laura was born in Saginaw, MI on September 2, 1964, the daughter of Mary Della (Simmons) Bashans.  Laura was a graduate of Ithaca High School.  Laura worked as a waitress at Town and Country in Ithaca and Mid-State Printing in Ithaca, she also was a caregiver.  Her daughter and grandchildren meant the world to her and she had a special place in her heart for her aunts, uncles, and other family.  She will be remembered for her kind heart, great sense of humor, the ability to make the best out of any situation, and would help anyone that needed it. Laura enjoyed art, swimming, playing cards, and watching television.  She loved her cat, Sky. Everyone called her 'ma' or 'mom', she was the community mother. 

     She is survived by her daughter Misty and Ryan Spegal of Alma, MI; her bonus daughters:  Samantha Wood-Rodriguez and Crystal Wood; six grandchildren: Kendra, Owen, Evan, Alan, Ricky, and Sofia; one nephew David Bashans, Jr. of Colorado; her aunts, uncles, and all the people that loved her.  Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Jennifer Jo Slepr, her brother David Bashans, her grandmother Marjorie Simmons, and her grandfather Archie Simmons that raised her.
