Lawrence "Larry" Vernon Doan, age 66, of Owosso, MI went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Brent Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 from 11 AM-1 PM and 5-8 PM and Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 11 AM to 1 PM the time of service at the Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be in Summit Cemetery, Williamston, MI.

Lawrence was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 24, 1943, the son of Lawrence Grant and Arlene Cora (Hoffman) Doan. Larry graduated from Western Hills High School, Cincinnati, OH. He resided most of his life in Owosso and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Larry married Rhonda L. Peters on December 19, 1964 at Walker AFB, Roswell, New Mexico.

Larry retired from Buick City in Flint and worked at Fisher Body I. He enjoyed woodworking, especially building benches and bird houses as Unique Woods. Larry also enjoyed his family and participated in all of his grandchildren's activities. He will be remembered as a very charitable man. He was involved in the YMCA Indian Princess Program, Boy Scouts of America Pack #224 and Girl Scouts of America. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Owosso, MI.

He is survived by his wife Rhonda L. Peters of Owosso, MI, 3 daughters; Lauri L. Smith of Owosso, MI, Deana L. Doan of Owosso, MI, Shari L. and Brian Perkins of Owosso, MI, 5 grandchildren; Avery and Jaelyn Smith, Kaleb Jokinen, Rebekah and Patrick Perkins, 3 brothers; Edward A. Doan of Ovid, MI, Lou Weisman of Cincinnati, OH, Chick and June Weisman of Cincinnati, OH, 2 sisters; Margie and Ernie Fryman of Foster, KY, Evelyn "Jeanne" Cooley of Apple Valley, CA, brother-in-law Robert and Peggy Peters of Mayhill, NM. Larry is also survived by many nieces and nephews, loving cousins Sue Ann (Wells) Monroe, Hoffman, Reed, and Martin families, special friends Sandy and Gene Lader and family, and his furry buddies Jack and Buffy. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence G. Doan, Arlene C. Doan Weisman, George M. Weisman and brother Pete Weisman.
