Lawrence Hoffer

Lawrence Ray Hoffer age 91 of Ithaca, Michigan died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Gratiot Medical Center Alma, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor James Conn will officiate with burial at Ithaca Cemetery Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Lawrence was born in Ashley, Michigan on March 9, 1916 the son of Ernest and Goldie ( Wood ) Hoffer. He resided most of his life in Ithaca, Michigan and attended Ashley Schools. Lawrence married Waunita Follett on September 3, 1936 in Ithaca, Michigan. She passed away in 1981. He was a farmer in Newark Township until he retired and took up the game of golf which he contiunued to play even at the age of 90. He managed to shoot his age for 18 holes of golf several times which made him very happy. Lawrence also enjoyed getting together with his pals for coffee every weekday morning.

He is survived by his very dear friend Hazel Aldrich of Ithaca, MI, daughters; Kathryn & Lynn Dicken of Ithaca, MI, Elaine & Tom Short of Freeland, MI, Sheila & Bob Bishop of Alma, MI, 6 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, sister Mable Munson of Ithaca, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Waunita, granddaughter Sherry Ayers, brother Ivan Hoffer, and sister Dorothy Lemanski.

Memorials may be made to Ithaca Church of God. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
