Lawrence Leiby

Lawrence James "Larry" Leiby, age 59, of Maple Rapids, MI, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Maple Rapids United Methodist Church, Maple Rapids, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating.

Lawrence was born in Carson City, Michigan on May 4, 1962, the son of Melvin Chancy and Sharon Gertrude (Hastings) Leiby.  Larry graduated from Fulton High School with the class of 1980, where he held many sports records.  On June 21, 1997, he married Shari Lynn Henry at their home in Maple Rapids.

He was an avid sports fan, especially golf and NASCAR.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.  Larry loved spending time with his family.  He loved his dogs, Molly and Lexi.  He enjoyed driving the back roads looking for wildlife.

He is survived by wife Shari Leiby; his children: Lawrence and Emily Leiby II, Michael and Haley Leiby, Samantha and Kody Smith-Womboldt, Daniel (Goob) Leiby and Paige Kushion; grandchildren:  LJ Philip, Abgail, Norah and Tucker Leiby, Pheonix and Emery Leiby, Hailie Smith-Womboldt; and his siblings Michael Leiby and Karrin Deal, Michelle Mosher, Mitch and Kelly Leiby, Lori and Karl Verwey; and step-father John Foster.  He is also survived by brothers-in-law James and Bona Henry and Randy and Diana Henry and many nieces and nephews.   He is preceded in death by father and stepmother, Melvin and Darlene Leiby, and his mother, Sharon Foster.
