Lawrence Freeman Smith age 94 of Ovid, Michigan died June 14, 2008 at at his home in Ovid, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Chaplain Beverly Adcock will officiate with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, June 16, 2008, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m.

Lawrence was born in Midland County, Michigan on June 4, 1914 the son of Charles Wilber and Jennie (Freeman) Smith. He resided most of his life in the Owosso and Ovid areas and attended Sanford Schools. Lawrence married Clara Creola on July 1, 1944, in Beaverton, Michigan. Clara passed away in 2002. Lawrence owned and operated a garage and service station until 1965. He then worked at Memorial Hospital (Memorial Healthcare) in the Maintenance Department for 15 years, retiring in 1979.
He is survived by his sons; Gary & Sandra Smith of Owosso, Elwin & Patricia Smith of Owosso, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Clara, 2 sons Donald & Clifford, 2 great grandson, Hunter & Jacob, three sisters and five brothers.

Memorials may be made to a Charity of Donors Choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso.
