Lee Foster

Lee Edward Foster, age 65, of Ithaca, MI died Monday, March 2, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Steven Young will officiate. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Lee was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on April 1, 1943, the son of Leonard and Greta (Plank) Foster. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1961. Lee married Gayla Smith on June 23, 1977. Lee was a lifelong resident of Ithaca, and worked for Ithaca Schools as a custodial supervisor for over 20 years, retiring in 2005. He loved camping, traveling, going to the casino, working on the cabin, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known by his family as a jokester, and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, whom he loved very much, Gayla Foster of Ithaca, MI, daughter Shawn and Daniel Fry of Grand Rapids, MI, 3 sons; Corey Hyde of Ithaca, MI, Kurt Foster of Redford, MI, Kent and Lynne Foster of Tuscaloosa, AL, his mother Greta Foster, 8 grandchildren; Blaine, Kayla, Desirae, Ryan, Logan, Gabe, Tristan, and Bailey, sister Diane and Waldo Hoskins of Kentucky, a brother Philip and Karen Foster of Pompeii, MI, sister Linda Holmes of Virginia, and sister Debra Shattack of Lyons, MI. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother Gary.
