Leo Deming

Leo Basil Deming, age 94, of Elsie, MI died Friday, December 11, 2009 at Welcome Home Adult Foster Care in Elsie, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 2:00 P.M., Pastor Carole Brown will officiate and burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 4-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Leo was born in Chapin, Michigan on January 3, 1915, the son of Irving and Ida (Hubbard) Deming. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1933 and resided most of his life in the Chapin area. Leo married Wilma "Pudge" Ruby Walling on December 6, 1941 in Rochester Colony, Duplain Township, Michigan. Pudge predeceased him on July 16, 2009. Leo was a farmer and worked and retired from Midland Ross in Owosso, Michigan in 1985, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking and horses. Leo was a member of Carland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter Diane and Richard Mead of Brant, MI, 2 grandsons; Brian and Krista Mead of Ashley, MI, Chad Mead and friend Colleen Papa of Shelby Township, MI, 4 great grandchildren; Christian, Kayla, Peter, and Levi, and 1 sister Joyce (Cecil) Pugh of Elsie, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and 2 sisters; Vera Cannon & Arlene Irrer.
