Leona A. Bauer, died April 26, 2010 at the age of 91 . Born in Fowler, July 26, 1918, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Goerge) Weber and has lived in St. Johns and Fowler most of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Sylvia Guild, and was a volunteer for Hazel Findlay Manor and Clinton Memorial Hospital. Her marriage of 57 years to Harold Bauer in Fowler on May 1, 1940, ended with his death October 20, 1997.
Leona is survived by four daughters, Diane Daher of Lansing, Dolores Phinney of St. Johns, Dorene Bauer of Laingsburg, and Debra (Cary) Rappuhn of Potterville, three sons, Dennis (Norma) Bauer and Dale (Sandi) Bauer of St. Johns, and Dane (Jeri) Bauer of Bloomingdale, Illinois, sixteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister in law, Marie Weber. In addition to her husband, Leona was preceded in death by one grandson, Baby Bauer, one great grandson, Christopher Post, and siblings, Norman Weber, Harold Weber, Angela Thelen, Melvin Weber, Urban Weber and Raymond Weber.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial in Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Osgood Funeral Home with a Rosary being prayed Tuesday at 7 p.m., and on Wednesday, a Rosary at 3 p.m., and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Contributions may be made in Leona's name to St. Joseph's Education Fund or Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor.
