Leona Irene Cameron, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, MI formerly of St. Louis died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Terri Bentley will officiate and burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 2-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Leona was born in Wheeler, Michigan on September 3, 1920, the daughter of Lewis and Christina (Ancel) Battley. She attended Breckenridge Schools. Leona married Roy Cameron on September 24, 1938 in St. Louis. He preceded her in death in 1980. Leona resided most of her life in the St. Louis area. She retired from Kroger in Alma after 25 years.

She is survived by her 2 daughters; Phyllis Baublitz of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Kay and Roger Wells of Gulliver, MI, son in law George Madison of Midland, MI, 7 grandchildren; Lori Gomez, Toni Wells Lucia, Karen Madison, Lisa & Joe Sinko, Jeffrey Wells, Bradley & Jennifer Baublitz, and Brett & Angela Baublitz, 11 great grandchildren, and a sister Beulah Nieman of St. Louis, MI. She is also survived by her surrogate children Loretta and Joseph Valendo Jr. of Edison, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy, daughter Bonnie Madison, a sister Lenora Foster, and 2 brothers Lloyd Battley and Ancel Battley.
