Leona Hartman

Leona Christina Hartman, age 90, of Vernon, MI passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Russ Park will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at the Funeral Home.

Leona was born in St. Charles, Michigan on September 15, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Florence (Parks) Sprague. Leona married David Hartman on May 23, 1937 in Fowlerville, MI. David passed away on September 11, 1988. Leona resided most of her life in Vernon, MI.

Leona retired from Universal Electric of Owosso after 25 years. Being with her family was the joy of her life. Leona visited the Farmer's Market every Saturday with her brother and nephew. She enjoyed being part of Abigail, the ladies group of First Baptist Church, Durand where she was a member.

She is survived by her son David and Shirley Hartman of Durand, MI, daughter Diane and Henry Hepworth of Alberta, Canada, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Braydon, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, 5 half siblings, and nephew Teddy.
