Leona Stewart

Leona Theresa Stewart, age 87, of Owosso, MI passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Leona was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 23, 1924, the daughter of Guido and Elizabeth (Acker) Caverson.

On September 1, 1945 Leona married Dale Stewart in Owosso and were happily married for 67 years. Leona resided all of her life in Owosso but spent winters in southern Texas.

Leona ran the Media Center at Emerson Elementary for 12 years and worked at Memorial Healthcare for 3 years. She was a member of Owosso First United Methodist Church, the YWCA Board and the Rush Township Planning Committee. Leona was also active for many years with Shiawassee County 4-H where she was a past member of the Fair Board.

She is survived by her husband Dale Stewart of Owosso, MI; daughter Terrilee and Thomas Henne of Owosso, MI; son Robert D. and Maureen Stewart of Marysville, WA; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Frieda Lamoureaux of Owosso, MI; Lillian and Robert Buck of Swartz Creek, MI.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
