Leonard Race

Leonard G. Race died October 20, 2008, at the age of 75. He was born in Montcalm County on March 27, 1933, the son of Vernon and Rosa (Rich) Race. He was a retired truck driver for Clinton County Road Commission, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Leonard married Donna Schafer in Riley Township on July 30, 1955 and she survives him.

Also surviving are his children, Kevin (Barb) Race of Dowagiac, MI, Timothy (Debi) Race of Ft. Wayne, IN, William (Linda) Race of South Haven, Pamela Race and Korene (Jacob Cable) Clemings all of Newark, OH, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Wanda and Elda.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 511 E. Sturgis St., St. Johns with Pastor George Brinley officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Osgood Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to his family. Military services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard.
