Leonore Soliz

Leonore Soliz, 89, of Ovid, MI, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, surrounded by her loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M., with Fidencio and Joan Palacio officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. on the day of the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI.

Leonore was born in TX on March 11, 1930, the daughter of Bonifacio and Sinforosa Salinaz.  Leonore married Pedro Soliz on July 10, 1954 in St. Johns, MI.  They were blessed with 64 years of marriage and 5 children prior to his passing on November 8, 2018. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid.

Leonore loved to work in her garden and everyone else's garden as well.  She enjoyed sewing and making crafts. She made many blankets by hand for her family and friends. Because she was always visiting her family and helping others, Pedro called her "Wonder Woman" because he always wondered where she was. Leonore and Pedro shaped their family with humor and love.

Leonore is survived by her children: Linda Soliz of Ovid; Alice (Edwin Daniel) Jones of Ovid; Pedro (Kristy) Soliz Jr. of Laingsburg; Adam (Lisa) Soliz of Owosso; and Rafael (Michelle) Soliz of Ovid; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 6 sisters: Irene, Esther, Joan, Maria, Margaret, and Eva; brother Adan, and many nieces and nephews.  Leonore was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Pedro (2018), sister Aurora, and brother Francisco.
