Leora Matthews

Leora Fay Matthews age 82 of Owosso died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Sparrow Health Systems, Sparrow Campus, Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Eric Numerick and Pastor Scott Seelhoff will officiate with burial at Sciota Cemetery Sciota Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 2-8 p.m. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

Leora was born in Petersburg, Michigan on February 20, 1926 the daughter of Ralph Lewis and Ethel Neomi ( Nevel ) Stull. She resided in Shiawassee County since 1930 and graduated from Corunna High School with the class of 1944. Leora worked for Universal Electric as the secretary to the plant manager for 19 years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed her close friends and playing cards. Leora was a member of Life in Christ Christian Church as well as the Quilters Club and she was a 4-H teacher.

She is loved & remembered by seven children & their spouses; Phillip & Lucille Matthews of Laingsburg, MI, Ken & Marsha Matthews of Bartlett, IL, Durwood & Bonnie Matthews of Owosso, MI, Jerry & Kathy Matthews of Laingsburg, MI, Theone & Rodger Schmidtfranz of Ovid, MI, Theora & Steve Semans of Ovid, MI, Marcia & Robert Hardaker of Owosso, MI, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 on the way. She is predeceased by her parents.

Memorials may be made to the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
