LeRoy Simpson

LeRoy Jay Simpson, age 82, of St. Johns, MI passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, St. Johns.

Funeral Services will be held at the Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Mr. Chuck Emmert will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday November 12, 2010 from 2-8 PM with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel.

LeRoy was born in Bingham Township, Michigan on March 8, 1928, the son of Oral and Ilene (Martin) Simpson. LeRoy resided most of his life in St. Johns. LeRoy married Helen Simon on September 25, 1951 in Lansing, MI. He attended the Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns.

LeRoy retired from GTE. He enjoyed going to the Big Boy Restaurant for breakfast and just loved going out to eat. Spending time with his family was a very important part of his life. LeRoy also had a special fondness for polka music.

He is survived by his wife Helen Simpson of St. Johns, MI, 3 sons; Gary and Margaret Simpson of St. Johns, MI, Vaughn and Darlene Simpson of St. Johns, MI, Craig Simpson and Ellen Watson of Elsie, MI, 8 grandchildren; Steven, Nathann, Brandi, Erica, Jeffery, Kevin, Levon and Ariel, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Genevieve Martin of Fowler, MI, Harriett and Donald Hier of Ovid, MI, and special friends Mac and Kelly Williams of St. Johns, MI. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leon and 2 sisters; Betty and Shirley.
