A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 with Rev. Fr. Paul Worley presiding. Burial will take place at Chapel Garden Cemetery, Seville Twp., MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of mass at the church.
Leslie was born in Fremont, MI on September 2, 1951, the son of Leslie Glen and Ila Lavaughn (Bunnell) Hunt. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the Class of 1969. On June 25, 1977, Leslie married Juanita in Clare, MI.
Doc held many different careers over the years including trimming trees, working at Plastifiber, D&S Autotrim, and retiring from Plasti-Paint. Although he had many passions, nearest and dearest to his heart were his wife, children and grandchildren. He felt that his family were his "light and soul." Doc also faithfully and proudly attended his children and grandchildren's activities, even traveling to the away games. One of his favorite memories was being on the boat and singing George Jones tunes with his granddaughters.
Doc played County League baseball from the age of 14. Then later, he went on to play fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball with many friends he grew up with. He played until the time his kids were old enough to play so he could watch their games. Doc hunted with his family and friends, Ken Bush and Jim Horvat. He enjoyed playing golf and golfed on leagues with his close friend, Dave Biehl for many years. He loved camping and fishing at School Section Lake for over 20 years. At the lake he made many close friends that he loved to spend time with. He was a member of Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Janie Hunt of St. Louis, MI; son Jake and Shannon Hunt of St. Louis, MI; son Heath "Paco" and Lisa Hunt of Shepherd, MI; daughter Maria and Brian Roberson of St. Louis, MI; eight grandchildren: Seth, Kyle, Andrea (Chris), Kali (David), Brittney (Dylan), Mara, Allyssa, and Sydney; three great-grandchildren: Valerie, Christopher, and Hazel; siblings: Bob Hunt; Dale and Allison Hunt; Ruth and Russell Halstead; Sue and Jim Ebright; Pat and Larry Woodbury; Evelyn and Michael O'Brien; Earl and Teresa Hunt. Doc is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and also (mother of Jake) Mary Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers Ron Hunt and Steve Hunt.
