Leslie T. Sturgis, known to his Michigan friends and family as "Tim", passed away Monday, September 29, 2008 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 81.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Edwin Snook will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Tim was born in Hubbardston, Michigan on September 24, 1927, the son of Jesse and Marian Sturgis. He married the "love of his life" Elaine (Wicke) who preceded him in death in 1999. He had two daughters, Penny Sturgis (deceased) and Linda Ferrari, presently living in Italy. His five grandchildren are Kim Emo of Oklahoma, Lynn Junkin of Colorado, Cheryl Usrey of Arizona, Michael Nicholas of Oklahoma, Gianluca Ferrari of Italy. His 5 great grandchildren are Brandon Hancock, Cheyenne Emo, Nicholas and Isabel Junkin and Dyson Usrey. He is also survived by one sister, Rose Welton, one brother Richard Sturgis and he was pre-deceased by his sisters; Helen Hobart, Anna Ackles, Dorothy Johnson, Laura Snow and brothers Carlyle and Milo.
Tim served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a toolmaker for most of his life at Federal Mogul, Pantex and McDonnell Douglas. He had a pre-hung door business for several years and also enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He was an avid University of Arizona sports fan and loyally attended games.
