Lester Foster, age 86, of Ithaca, MI passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Doug Strait officiating. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Emerson Township, MI. Visitation will be held on, Friday May 15, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Lester was born in Emerson Twp., Michigan on March 10, 1929, the son of Elmer and Rosa (Barnard) Foster. He married Geneva (Rutherford) in Beebe, MI on June 12, 1949. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this June.
Lester was a lifelong resident of Ithaca. He retired from Grand Trunk Railroad Co. in March 1989 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, lawn work, and going to country jamborees. Lester and Geneva spent many winters in Florida and enjoyed visiting family in Kentucky and Tennessee. Lester loved gatherings with his family and church family. He attended Ithaca Wesleyan Church Ithaca, MI.
He is survived by his wife Geneva Foster of Ithaca, MI; son Dan and Linda Foster of Ithaca, MI; daughter Gloria and Tom Abell of Alma, MI; son William Foster and special friend, Janet Hall of Harrison, MI; 8 grandchildren, Chris Reeves, Jayson and Becky Abell, Jeremy and Erica Abell, Zach and Dori Foster, Tiffany and John Kelley, Amber Foster, Heather and Dustin Reed, Courtney Bovee, 14 great grandchildren; Jessica, Rylee, Rechelle, JT, Cara, Blaze, Jake, Corbin, Cameren, Cambre, Garver, Kaselynd, Abbigayle, Mia, Easton, Ebby and one great great grandson, Jayse Lee, sister Ruth Sparks of Rockville, IN; sisters in law; Greta Foster, Lorelei Rutherford, Mary and Robert Watson, Pearl and Ron McKellar, brother in law; John and Sheryl Rutherford and many nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in law, Bill and Rebecca Rutherford, 2 brothers Leonard Foster and Wilbur (Bert) Foster, twin sister Esther (Maynard) Parrish, sisters and brothers in law; Ruth and Bernard Gager, Edith and Joe Simonovic, Raymond and Marvel Rutherford, Eugene Rutherford and Lewis Rutherford.
