Letha Luella Furnish, age 85, of Laingsburg, MI passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Donald Wentz officiating. Burial will follow at Middlebury Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 5, 2011 from 6-8 PM and Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
Letha was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 22, 1926, the daughter of Irwin Dennis and Hertha (Brockway) Hammond. She was a graduate of Gaines High School. Letha resided most of her life in Sciota Township, MI. Letha and Eugene were married October 20, 1946 in Royal Oak, MI.
Letha enjoyed all craftwork, especially sewing and ceramics. Spending time with her family and grandchildren brought her much joy. She loved to travel, visiting Frankenmuth numerous times, took a cruise to the Hawaiian Islands and enjoyed visiting Branson, Missouri and Shipshewana. Letha loved the outdoors, flower gardens and canning jars of food. She loved animals and always had a pet that was dear to her. She was a member of Middlebury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Eugene Furnish Sr. of Laingsburg, MI, son Dean and Mary Furnish of Tujunga, CA, daughter Sandy and Bill Farr of Ferguson, NC, son Eugene "Bo" and Nicole Furnish Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI, 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Letha was preceded in death by her parents, son Clyde Calvin, daughters; Cindy Caroline and Lorrie Lee, 3 sisters; Persis, Sylvia & Marcie and 2 brothers; Glenn & Irwin, Jr.
