Lewis Whitford

Lewis "Stub" O. Whitford age 90 of Laingsburg, Michigan died Friday, December 31, 2004 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Pastor Steven Higgs will officiate with burial at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, 2005 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
Lewis was born in Ashley, Michigan on April 15, 1914 the son of James A. & Anna ( Kerr ) Whitford. He resided in Ashley in his early years, but lived in Laingsburg and Lansing for his adult life. Lewis married Alma B. Cook on November 11, 1933 in Ashley, Michigan. She died August 23, 2002. He retired from Motor Wheel in 1980 and was also a lifelong farmer. He loved his gardening. He was a member of Immanuel First Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan.
He is survived by his 4 children; Maxine & Robert Evans of Santa Ana, CA, Betty & Dick Green of Haines, FL, Erma King of Jackson, MI, Ray & Pauline Whitford of Laingsburg, MI, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Eva of California. He is predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 grandson.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
